"Don't be a drag // just be a queen..."
[x] So much to say, so much to say...where to start? Valentine's Day was
awesome. The older littles had a great time at their V-Day preschool
party (while K. and Little Flower treated me to a coffee date), and we
then made the rounds delivering a few valentines. I made a highly
requested dinner: baked tofutastic nuggets, the best-ever brown rice
recipe (seriously, the kids are wildly addicted), steamed veggies, beer
bread and...MORE cinnamon rolls for dessert. I really feel like I've
found my calling, and that is to turn everyone I know on to vegan
cinnamon rolls. Want some? :) It was a great day. K. had to work at
night and the girls crashed out about seven, Bear went down around
eight, and I fell asleep around ten or so--and we all slept straight
through until almost eight in the morning! Happy Valentine's Day indeed.
:)
[x] Today was a crazy busy day. On a lark and for no real reason whatsoever, K. and I took a ride past my grandparents' houses--err, old houses--in the city (while Bear and Beauty were at school). It's not a terribly far drive, so we hit Starbucks on the way and took off. He asked me a lot of questions about my parents and their lives and his interest in "how it all began" just really warmed my heart. He's such a doll. :) I creepily snapped a few pics with my iPhone and sent them to my mom. It was awesome to show the kids the house where grandma grew up. They were highly impressed. :) We came home, picked up the kids, had lunch. After that, we set about cleaning the house from top to bottom--laundry included--and kicked ass and took names while we were at it. Awesome! The house looks spectacular. K. even did a little steam cleaning. And he didn't even complain that after all his hard work I served leftovers for dinner. ;) We played with all the kids before dinner, had dinner, and took off to drop off some extra wet cat food at an area animal shelter. While our cats don't mind/will eat wet food, it was more or less a "Fourth Meal thing" and now that she's gone, well, we knew they'd be able to use it. We dropped off all our stuff for taxes tonight, too. We have a great guy (independent--not a chain or anything like that) we go to every year--and will do so faithfully for pretty much ever. He rocks. He is pretty much the god of taxes. He's been doing our stuff since 2007, and we are loyalists through and through. We're always throwing something crazy or complicated or ridiculous his way and he handles it in stride. Great guy. Happy to have that project under way as we speak. Anyway, after an impromptu Lady Gaga dance party in the car, we came home, got the girls to bed, set Bear up with a snack, and scrubbed out/down the three season room/patio. I'm currently showered and waiting for Kev to finish up getting Bear off to bed. Tonight, we bottle his first batch of beer! SO excited (and hopeful)! One week until we can sample the fruits of his labor. :) This was just a basic, bare bones recipe. Next time around, we'll get fancier. :) After that, it's R&R for us for the rest of the night.
Anyway, I've gotta get a move on. It's time for bottling. Wish us luck! :) <3
