The Old Man and The Sea

[x] I am a subliminal cat whisperer.

No, really. I am.

Well, maybe not.
But sort of.

Here's why:

As any regular reader knows (I know there are a few out there, right? Right?), we said goodbye to our beloved Fourth Meal a few days ago. Since my neighbors hate me for it, I tend to keep my outside cat feeding on the DL, and actually stopped entirely this winter (post adoption of 4M) when no one but The Giant Skunk of Doom was milling about and enjoying the grub. This morning, I stepped into the backyard to take the garbage out and found a large, beige-y/gray cat sitting on the step in the snow. Just...sitting there. I approached him, and he seemed friendly enough, so I was able to pet him and get up in his space. I brought him out a bowl of food which he devoured, and I then returned to petting him. Long story short--since I'm pressed for time right now--we wound up taking him to the vet with a few concerns for his well being and he is now a new member of our family.

Who knew?

To be honest, I had no intention of adding another cat to the family, well, ever. But I can't help but think Fourthie had a hand (paw?) in this one.

So, yeah. He's about four (maybe five?) years old and in good health, all things being considered equal. It's apparent he's been on his own for some time, but so far, he seems *very* happy here and everyone has taken to him beautifully. Well, except Easter, but she hates everyone. Anyway.

Oh, and when I saw him, I immediately thought of The Old Man and The Sea for some reason, so his name is Hemingway. It fits. :)
